“A father is the one friend upon whom we can always rely. In the hour of need, when all else fails, we remember him upon whose knees we sat when children, and who soothed our sorrows; and even though he may be unable to assist us, his mere presence serves to comfort and strengthen us.” —Émile Gaboriau

"You are about to start the greatest improvisation of all. With no script. No idea what's going to happen, often with people and places you have never seen before. And you are not in control. So, say 'yes.' And if you're lucky, you'll find people who will say 'yes' back." -- Stephen Colbert Congratulations Class of 2023!

During the summer months, it’s important to stay vigilant and aware of heat-related illnesses and potential heat risks. Older adults and children are especially at risk of heat stroke or exhaustion. Camping is one of America’s favorite outdoor activities and National Camping Month is observed in June every year. Be it with friends, family, or even by yourself, camping is the perfect way to reconnect with nature and yourself. Camping is also a very popular summer activity that keeps young children engaged outside of school. Enjoy camping however you want and rough it by leaving all modern amenities behind to get a detox from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

|
Americans celebrate National Rivers Month every year in June to learn how they can care for their rivers and keep them clean and thriving. Rivers are not only a source of water, but also food, irrigation, and shelter. Many communities depend on them for their livelihood and way of life. It is our responsibility to preserve rivers like a national treasure and find ways in which we can function without polluting or damaging them.
It's a perfect time to organize a river clean up in the areas you care about!
|
|
June is National Ocean Month and June 8 is World Oceans Day, making it a great time to spotlight the importance of oceans and what we can do to protect them.
Covering over 70 percent of the planet, oceans connect us all. Whether you live close by or thousands of miles away, oceans are vital to our well being. They impact our weather, are home to marine life, provide us with food, and are a place to work and play for millions.
Again, it's a perfect time to organize a pollution pickup!
