Locating an Incarcerated Offender

Posted on Thursday, November 07, 2019
Have you ever tried finding someone who isn't on the registry because they are still incarcerated? Some states do not post incarcerated offenders on the sex offender registry while others do. It can make searching for a predator pretty difficult.

Maybe you are a victim of a crime, sex offense or not, and trying to keep tabs on the person who was arrested for it? Doing a Google search for "inmate locator" can bring up dozens and dozens of third party websites. I didn't sift through them to see if there were any legit free ones that would search all 50 states like we do for registered sex offenders - but I did get all the information so you can perform the search yourself.

Many states offer "inmate tracking" - so you can get a notification when they are moved or released. I know locally our "victim's assistance" program will personally contact you if you are a victim of a crime from an incarcerated offender.

Did you know that some states offer court record searches for free? Some states that do not, still have court record searches for the city/muncipal that the courthouse is located in! It just takes a simple google search or phone call to your local police to see what they offer!

If you have any additional registries you think could help the public feel safe, please comment and let us know!
